A first stop for all parents when moving in to your new town/city is the ´Centre Social´. Not only do they offer plenty of activities for babies, toddlers and children of all ages but also offer lots of fun activities for parents to – it really is the centre of activity in every French town.
The ´ARCS´in Rennes gives information on each ´Centre Social´in the Rennes area. On their website (www.centres-sociaux-rennais.fr/) you can find details of all the activities offered and a list of all the ones in the Rennes metropolitan area. For the surrounding area and the rest of Brittany visit http://centres-sociaux-bretagne.fr for a map and list of all the centre socials and links to their web pages.
“The Centre Social in Plelan organises lots of fun activities(sports, art, theatre, music and dance activities) for children aged 4 to 18 years in the evenings, weekends, Wednesday and school holidays. It cost just 3 euros to become a member and you can enrol children for the yearly activities or for Wednesday or holidays – it´s very cost effective and they can stay for lunch. The staff are all highly qualified and during the holidays they run themed activities and plenty of energetic and creative past times to keep the kids amused. My 5 year old loves it there and this year we have also enrolled her in Judo and Music classes in the evenings. I can´t recommend it highly enough- I don´t know what I would have done without it!"
